UPHA proudly continues its program to help horse shows engage communities, showcase our show horses, and raise much-needed funds for breast cancer research, awareness, and treatment: the UPHA Pink Ribbon Programsm.
After the inaugural class at the 2007 UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show received enthusiastic support from the Royal attendees and Kansas City community, UPHA organized this program so that horse shows across the United States could also participate in the effort. In the past two years, the UPHA Pink Ribbon Programsm has raised approximately $170,000! Now, we’ve set a new goal for 2010 — another $100,000 to help fight breast cancer.

Program is Expanded for 2010: More Breeds, More Classes
Horse shows may offer the program for any breed of horse that is represented by membership in UPHA. Now, horse shows may choose one of these UPHA Pink Ribbon Programsm options:
- UPHA Pink Ribbon Classsm — any one class that the horse show designates. UPHA will provide an elegant trophy and 8 prize ribbons;
- UPHA Pink Ribbon Night — an entire evening’s classes at the horse show. UPHA will provide a first-place ribbon for each class offered that evening.
Designate a Local Co-Beneficiary to Help your Horse Show Attract Local Sponsorships and Attendance
Either 100% or 50% of the funds raised by your horse show must be forwarded to UPHA Foundation, Inc., a 501c3 organization. If your horse show selects a local breast cancer organization as a co-beneficiary, 50% of the raised funds may be sent to that breast cancer organization. However, all of the funds raised by your horse show will count toward UPHA’s $100,000 goal set for 2010.

Request the UPHA Pink Ribbon Classsm Toolkit DVD
We’ve created a UPHA Pink Ribbon Programsm Toolkit – a DVD that contains tips and strategies, forms and invitations, announcer’s script, press releases, promotion materials, a video of the inaugural Pink Ribbon Class, and much more – to help your horse show make your UPHA Pink Ribbon Classsm as successful as possible. Your horse show may receive one, free of charge, by request. (One per horse show, please.)
Receive a free trophy, prize ribbons, and UPHA Associate Membership for your horse show’s class winners
There’s more: In addition to the free trophy and ribbons, UPHA will donate one UPHA Associate Membership (a $65 value) to be awarded to a winning exhibitor of a UPHA Pink Ribbon ClassSM (one per horse show), if he or she is not already a UPHA member.
First-time participant horse shows in the UPHA Pink Ribbon ProgramSM, as well as horse shows that did not contribute $250 in their previous year of UPHA Pink Ribbon ProgramSM participation, are asked to pay the up-front cost of trophy and ribbons for the UPHA Pink Ribbon Class(es) being offered. This prevents a drain on the funds being raised to fight breast cancer. The cost of the trophy and ribbons may be deducted from proceeds forwarded to UPHA Foundation, Inc., after the horse show and fundraising efforts are completed. Current costs -- including shipping to the horse show’s contact person -- are:
- Trophy and 8 ribbons: $195
- Ribbon set for one class (8 ribbons): $80
- First-place ribbons for an evening of the UPHA Pink Ribbon ProgramSM: $10 per ribbon
Please contact us if your horse show needs a special arrangement that is not listed above.
