WHO WE ARE
The United Professional Horsemen's Association (UPHA) is a group of professional horsemen and horsewomen who have united to improve the show horse industry and define and clarify their professionalism within it. The UPHA was founded in 1968 and has since expanded into eighteen regional chapters that encompass all fifty states and Canada. The membership now includes professionals, owners, and youth. The predominant breeds represented by UPHA members are the American Saddlebred, the Arabian, the Morgan Horse, the Hackney Pony, the Roadster Horse, and the National Show Horse. Through their programs, the UPHA has positively impacted not only individual horse people but the entire horse show industry.
The UPHA's mission emphasizes working in the spirit of cooperation rather than demand. The beliefs, values, and culture of the UPHA ensure the integrity of the horse show industry, promote professionalism in all endeavors, and advocate for the purpose and needs of the equine community.
The UPHA collaborates with the United States Equestrian Federation, The American Horse Council, and the various breed organizations to promote safety, ensure fairness, improve conditions, increase attendance, and enhance the overall horse show experience for owners, trainers, grooms, and spectators alike. The UPHA seeks to foster communication and mutually beneficial relationships between all participants in the horse show industry.
For over fifty years, the United Professional Horsemen's Association has given a united voice to the individual trainer while recognizing their unique capabilities and talent. As an equestrian enthusiast, joining the UPHA would not only enable you to learn more about the goals and programs but also contribute to the growth of the equine community. So, come aboard and become a part of this incredible association today!
